Les Mason Branding Archive

Les Mason is a legendary figure in the history of Australian graphic design, revered by his contemporaries and by a new generation of designers in search of a design history of their own and a professional heritage that validates their practice. Mason arrived in Australia from Los Angeles in 1961 and after working for the advertising agency US Benson for a year he opened his own studio in South Melbourne where he went on to set the model for independent graphic design practice. DHARN’s Les Mason Digital Archive comprises the work of that studio, as captured in the National Gallery of Victoria’s Les Mason: Solo exhibition, and includes Mason’s much praised Epicurean cover designs, ground breaking Thank God for the Salvos campaign as well as packaging, environmental graphics, tourism collateral, branding and studio images.
